The “Water Gaps” are actually a series of five gaps through the ridges from
Liverpool in northern Perry County, south to I-81 just north of Harrisburg.
These gaps, as a group, have been designated a “National Natural
Landmark” by the National Park Service for the outstanding views of the geological process resulting in water gaps.
In the foreground are seen buildings along the Third Street corridor. The smokestack is on the old Polyclinic Medical Center campus.
